About Diana

Headshot-V9.png

Diana Herrera (she/her) is a first generation Latina and lighting designer located in Southern California. Her roots are based in the warmth of sunny Los Angeles where she was born and raised by her Mexican mother and sisters. She is in the process of receiving her MFA in lighting design at University of California, Irvine in Spring 2023.  She earned her BA in Theatre and Dance from California State University of Los Angeles where she discovered her passion for lighting.  Within her time in the industry, she has designed over a dozen shows from theatre to dance. When Diana is not designing, you can find her assisting, drafting or mentoring.  Her work has taken her to Syracuse Stage, East West Players, South Coast Repertory, Utah Shakespeare Company, Apples and Oranges, and Radiance Lightworks to name a few.

Her passion lies in inspiring others the same way she was inspired by this craft and when she is not immersing her life in lighting or theatre, you can find her embracing the beauty around her by painting, or admiring those dreamy SoCal sunsets. (which still involves lighting nonetheless).

As an artist I always like to ground myself by remembering a saying my mother tells me, "tienes que echale ganas y ser hulimde" which translates to "you must give it all your willpower and stay humble" because in this industry we are a community being the most vulnerable with our art and each other.
